Music Agenda 5/18-5/22

BAND CONCERT!!!! TUESDAY MAY 19th, It will be an awesome concert 9:00-9:45!   They will be playing some favorites, "Go big Green", "Hey Song", " "Happy", "Happy Birthday!", "Jaws", Its going to be great fun!  


*********WE WANT INSTRUMENTS, dead or alive.  If it is in your closet collecting dust and it needs a home where it can be played, please send it in.  We can send you a tax exempt receipt for your records! 

**********We are in need of substitute teachers at Holy Spirit on an as need basis.  If you have a gift for working with kids, want a flexible schedule and a bit of pay for it!  Contact the school office, we need music substitutes on the list!  Thank you! 

Kindergarten- Students will dance and sing with the circle game "Charlie goes over the Ocean", and "Round and Round the village".  Students will do "5 Second" concerts and practice appropriate audience participation. 


First Grade- "A tisket a tasket" circle game, "Farmer in the Dell", circle game.  We will learn a outh African Songs and game. 


Second Grade- We are going to do some gross and annoying songs "Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts", "On top of my Pizza", "Roadkill stew", Using the boomwhackers students will create a song in groups for two class periods.  They will preform the following week.  

Third Grade: Students continue working with the barred instruments. They will finish up their 9 measures of created music and perform for the class next week. 

Fourth Grade-  Recorders need to be in music class weekly, we are forgetting our recorders, please remind the kids to bring them!  Weekly grades are effected because students cannot test if they don't have the instrument. 

Fifth Grade-  Students will need to start thinking about there middle school year.  For music, students in middle school have to choose, Band or Choir for first semester and in the second semester, Annual Fund Dinner(musical) or band.  Next Thurs May 21st, there will be a 7:00 band call out meeting for parents of 5th graders. Last week Mrs. Epple, parent and volunteer of the school came to school. She had the students try out instruments to help them make a decision of band or choir for next year.  If band is their option we will be doing a Instrument meeting on May 21th from 7:00-8:00 to talk with instrumental professionals and get things in order for the following year.  Please let me know you are going to attend, we want to have a good turn out. Please let me know any concerns as we are planning in the next few weeks! We will work on music from recorder karate 2, with the time available this week.  Students will need their recorders everyday music class!


Annual Fund Dinner(AFD) Little Mermaid Jr.: What an amazing show!!  The kids really shined!  From performing to serving to stage crew our kids did  wonderful!  Thank you to Miss Richardson, Mrs. Welty, Ms. Peacock, Mr. Moran, Mrs. Newhart, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Stuczynski, Mrs. Spears, Mrs. Hurst, Mrs. Epple, Mrs. Conway, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Hartman, Mr. Branigan, and Mrs. Chappelow.  We could have not done show without your help! For music, students in middle school have to choose, Band or Choir for first semester and in the second semester, Annual Fund Dinner(musical) or band.  Next Thurs May 21st, there will be a 7:00 band call out meeting for parents that are interested in information about renting an instrument.  The sign ups for the groups will be first come, first serve, so the groups will fill up fast depending on your child's preference. Students will get sheets to be signed by their parents to select their groups.  

The Advanced, Beginning Band  groups and Guitars:   May 19th, the date was originally May 18th but has changed, please make note of the change. the band will perform during the day!  We would love for you to join us! The concert is from 9:00-10:00 in the gym, they will be doing some fun numbers and their peers get to see them perform. It is definitely a concert to attend! We are continuing work on  various songs "Hey Song", "Go Big Green", "Happy Birthday", and "Jaws", "Happy", "The Holy Spirit School Song", Seaway March.  Students need to start thinking of next year, we are going to get classes organized at the end of this year.  For music, students in middle school have to choose, Band or Choir for first semester and in the second semester, Annual Fund Dinner(musical) or band.  Next Thurs May 21st, there will be a 7:00 band call out meeting for parents that are interested in information about renting an instrument.  The sign ups for the groups will be first come, first serve, so the groups will fill up fast depending on your child's preference. Students will get sheets to be signed by their parents to select their groups.
