Music Agenda 5/27-5/30

Kindergarten- Gone for the summer!  Now they are big first graders!  See you next year! 

1st Grade: Yearly standard review.  They choose, musical games of their choice that we have done in music class in the past.

2nd Grade: Yearly standard review.  They choose, musical games of their choice that we have done in music class in the past.

Annual Fund Dinner Class: Glee Projects, students have rubrics.   All students in band and choir will be  participating. Graduation on May 28th,all students in choir please attend at the church be here at 6:30.

Music Agenda 5/19-5/23


Kindergarten- Soup for me, A tasty treat, Open Shut them, If your name begins, Clap your hands, Two little blackbirds, 5 little muffins, Mashed potatoes, shorten bread, popcorn, Little Miss Muffet.

1st Grade: Boomwhacker music playing!  Students will use instruments called Boomwhackers and reading music.

2nd Grade: Identifying classroom instrument in categories and families, by sight and sound. Identifying different voice types.

3rd Grade:  We will be reading music and playing barred instruments.  We will focus on different standards for each class period.  Here are the standards we will be covering 3.2.1 Echo melodic and rhythmic patterns.,3.2.2  Play given pitch patterns on a mallet instrument, keyboard, or recorder., 3.2.3  Play instruments in a group with a steady beat, appropriate dynamics, and correct technique., 3.2.4  Use correct names for classroom instruments including those from world cultures.3.2.5  Play four-measure melodies on pitched percussion instruments.3.2.6  Play ostinato accompaniments on pitched and non-pitched classroom instruments, independently and with others. 3.2.7  Follow the cues of a conductor. 

4th Grade: Recorders!!! Students will need to bring them to every class period.  Students will need to practice at home!  We worked in class on progress with songs.  They are just continue to work on the next song as they complete the previous ones.

5th-  Program Music- Aaron Copland-Appelachian Spring, and Hoedown

Annual Fund Dinner Class: Glee Projects, students have rubrics.  All projects are due Tuesday May 20th.  All students in band and choir will be  participating. Graduation on May 28th,all students in choir please attend at the church be here at 6:30.   Auditions for Choir for grades 6-8 will be next week at the end of the day on Wednesday, and could extend until after school.  

6th- RESPONDING TO MUSIC:   We will be researching and compiling lists for different time periods, with mini presentations.  6.6.3  Identify and use appropriate terminology to describe various musical styles, genres, cultures, and time periods. 

7th- Creating songs on IPADs using garage band.

Music Agenda 4/28-5/2

Kindergarten-  We will be talking about rests in music and learning some songs in question answer form.  Students will participate in singing and moving.

1st Grade: 

2nd Grade: Boomwhackers in music, let's play.  We will also learn about other instruments in the classroom and world cultures. 

3rd Grade:  We will be reading music and playing barred instruments.  We will focus on different standards for each class period.  Here are the standards we will be covering 3.2.1 Echo melodic and rhythmic patterns.,3.2.2  Play given pitch patterns on a mallet instrument, keyboard, or recorder., 3.2.3  Play instruments in a group with a steady beat, appropriate dynamics, and correct technique., 3.2.4  Use correct names for classroom instruments including those from world cultures.3.2.5  Play four-measure melodies on pitched percussion instruments.3.2.6  Play ostinato accompaniments on pitched and non-pitched classroom instruments, independently and with others. 3.2.7  Follow the cues of a conductor. 

4th Grade: Recorders!!! Students will need to bring them to every class period.  Students will need to practice at home!  Students will be "Hot Cross Buns" due after break.  We worked in class on it.  They are welcome to start the 2nd song "Gently Sleep" and beyond they will play for grades.

5th-  We will begin looking at piano playing.  Students will learn some basic piano skills using the IPADs, books and print offs as keyboards. 

Annual Fund Dinner Class(AFD)  Thank you parents for getting kids to practice and making sure they stay the entire time.  I appreciate your support. We have practice on Wed and Thursday.  We are going to be working during the day to avoid another work day.  We may have to have one again the week before the show.  We will keep you updated!  

6th- RESPONDING TO MUSIC:   We will be researching and compiling lists for different time periods. 6.6.3  Identify and use appropriate terminology to describe various musical styles, genres, cultures, and time periods. Depending on the day we maybe working on AFD props and scenery.

7th-  Our unit for the next few weeks focuses on how much is in other academic areas. We will be focusing on 7.8.1  From a list of the elements of music, the elements of art (line, color, shape, value, texture, form, and space), and the principles of design (unity, variety, emphasis, balance, proportion, pattern, and rhythm), map correlations with dance, drama, and other curricular areas.  We will be having students draw and identify various terms in music with their art.  Depending on the day we maybe working on AFD props and scenery.

8th- RESPONDING TO MUSIC:  Students will begin using choir chimes in class and playing as an ensemble.  Students will have individual parts, and the responsibility of their own notes.

3rd Grade:  We will be reading music and playing barred instruments.  We will focus on different standards for each class period.  Here are the standards we will be covering 3.2.1 Echo melodic and rhythmic patterns.,3.2.2  Play given pitch patterns on a mallet instrument, keyboard, or recorder., 3.2.3  Play instruments in a group with a steady beat, appropriate dynamics, and correct technique., 3.2.4  Use correct names for classroom instruments including those from world cultures.3.2.5  Play four-measure melodies on pitched percussion instruments.3.2.6  Play ostinato accompaniments on pitched and non-pitched classroom instruments, independently and with others. 3.2.7  Follow the cues of a conductor.

Annual Fund Dinner Class: Clean up, Party after school, Friday Pitchin' for breakfast, Graduation on May 28th, all students in choir please attend at the church be here at 6:30.  Also students got their rubrics for the Glee project today all students in band and choir will be  participating.  Auditions for Choir for grades 6-8 will be next week at the end of the day on Monday, and could extend until after school.

Annual Fund Dinner Class: AFD WEEK!  Mon: and Tues 3-5, Wed. 6-8, Thurs and Fri 5:30 call times for show.  KIDS CANNOT MISS PRACTICE UNLESS DUE TO ILLNESS FROM SCHOOL, NO EXCEPTIONS.
