Welcome back, please check your child's grade level for homework and what we are doing in class! It will be an exciting new year!  

My goal is to communicate with all parents, if you know a parent that does not get these emails, please let me know or have them talk with me, I want everyone to know what is happening! Thank you!

New Middle School Homework Policy: If students do not submit homework by due date.  They will recieve a homework notice and will need to stay after school the following day to make up work with Mrs. Simms until 3:20.  Grades will be lowered for any work that is late.
Kindergarten:
Fast and Slow in music, "Paiges Train", "Engine", "Old Gray Cat"

 
1st grade
Reading music with Boomwhackers, "Baa Baa Black Sheep", "Lullaby"

 
2nd Grade:
Note practicing with Notes in a Barrel, note flash cards game and assessment
 
3rd Grade: 
Contrasting two different music compositions, Note practice 
4th Grade: 
Contrasting two different music compositions, Identifying different types of singers in music
5th grade:
Contrasting two different music compositions, Discussion of lifeskills in music, "Johnny has gone for a soldier" and its historical significance.

Jubilance Choir:
The voice, Sight Reading, New Mass Music, Theory
NEXT SUNDAY MASS is January 27th, 12:00

Masses are the fourth Sunday of the following months: January, February, and March- students should wear uniforms at these Masses.  Meet in the West Vestibule with Mrs. Newhart at 11:30, for the 12:00 Masses.  If Middle School Choir Members are not attending the Sunday Masses, grades will be lowered, if I am not contacted.  Please communicate, I know things come up.  If you do not attend the Mass, please remind students of proper etiquette at Mass, no talking and acting reverent in the church.

6th Grade General Music:
Cultural Music continued.  Students will be turning in a answer for homework comparing two songs, one from China and the other from Japen.  This reflection is due on Tuesday
7th Grade General Music:
Solfege and Warm ups, Dynamics and other terms review, Form in music continued. Students need to have notebooks for every class.  If they were not prepared with notebooks and folders for our first class, they must have them with them at class on Tuesday.  If they are missing, they will have a homework notice and lowered points for materials and will be required to stay after school on Wednesday.

8th Grade General Music
Aural rhythm identification, Circle of 5ths and key signatures, Dynamics, Articulation and other terms review, Repetition and contrast in music continued.  Students need to have notebooks for every class.  If they were not prepared with notebooks and folders for our first class, they must have them with them at class on Monday.  If they are missing, they will have a homework notice and lowered points for materials and will be required to stay after school Tuesday.
