Music Agenda 2/2-2/6

*****Anyone that has a talent for sewing we need help with costumes for Annual Fund dinner, please contact me, we want to set up a meeting next week to plan out what we can do and need.

********Grades should be visible in the grade book, all middle school students will be listed as music.  They cannot be indicated as band or choir as the gradebook will not allow for it.  Because it will lose the first and 2nd quarter grades.  We are working on the problem to be resolved for next year.  Any questions, please let me know!

Kindergarten- Steady Beat, Loud and Soft, fast and slow, Call and Answer are the skills we are reviewing.  I will be assessing kids on how they are responding to the terms next week.

First Grade-  Students will review notes and reading rhythms.  Students will continue practice writing notes and rhythms for identification practice.  We will continue reading with Solfege. We are working toward Fierabend Curriculm which helps with improvising and pitch matching.

Second Grade-  We will continue to respond to music and identify different aspects of the music.

Third Grade: Kids will work on their the music terms through stations and I will assess kids of their understanding of the music vocabulary.

Fifth Grade-
ISTEP- https://newsela.com/articles/anthem-manuscript/id/4376/, students will learn about the National Anthem.  We have had some technology issues and hopefully we can get to the article this week! :) Johnny has gone for a soldier,  Students will listen to the songs and research what the song is really about.

Fourth Grade- We will continue to learn new terms; dynamics,  articulation, Tempo, rhythm, melody in music and applying them to our music and seeing how they are used with different pieces and songs. We will begin writing a portfolio with illustrations of music experiences in our lives following the prompts in class.  Writing prompts will be graded using the ISTEP rubric.

Annual Fund Dinner(AFD) Little Mermaid Jr.-   Students are working through the script as we learn the songs, dances and lines.  First week in March students have to have all parts memorized in the script.

Advanced Band- First Period band students are working on solos for ISSMA and CYO competitions.  The Advanced group will also perform at a concert during the school day in mid May.  We are still waiting on a finalized date for the East Deanery band festival as well.   Advanced band will be assessed next week over their progress on their solo piece.

Beginning Band- Students in band will have a playing test next week.  Recorders will be assessed on their fingerings, Choir chimes on number 51 in the book, and other instruments on number 48.

Guitars- Students will be assessed over different chord progression and solos based on their progress and expectations thus far.

Any questions please contact me, I am here to advance your child musically!
